Muju Records is pleased to release a new single by "Wild Horses Orchestra" and prominent Korean traditional singer Kang Kwon Soon.
Mrs Kang is a famous specialist in “Jeongga” singing, a vocalist known for her collaborations with many foreign artists but also in Korea with percussions master Kim Duk Soo. She has done us the honor of mixing her singing with the arrangement imagined by Etienne de la Sayette, around an intimate afro jazz, enhanced with the colors of the Ethiopian "washint" flute.
This new collaboration is part of a long term work by the musician focused on Korean vocal traditions : “minyo" style at first with his quintet Baeshi Bang and the Seoul collective Ip Koa Son (3 edited singles and a tour in Korea) and now around the "Jeongga" style, ultra-refined court music, imbued with nobility and restraint.
Etienne has this time called upon his imaginary orchestra to dress up Mrs Kang's singing : the Wild Horses Orchestra, a virtual combo born in the studio of the producer/multi-instrumentalist during recent lockdowns, but which subsequently proved to be a tool that was both handy and with a rather convincing expressive potential.
lyrics
Wind blows like earthquake
Hard rain falls like pouring
We made a solid pledge to make our eyewinking bear fruit tonight but how that can be in this wind and rain
Indeed, if you come we are predestined to each other really
